Originally found on the islands of Mithas and Kothas, minotaurs (also called Kothians) are a proud people who worship the evil deity Sargas. Mainstream minotaurs despised all followers of Kiri-Jolith, the god of righteous warfare also known as “Emperor.”
One sect of Mithas Kothians, led by the wise Knoss, refused to bow to an evil god, and were subsequently hunted down and all but a handful killed. The few survivors of this sect travelled the mighty oceans until they could sail no more. They came to rest on the large and secluded island they called Knossos. Descended from Mithas Kothians, Knossian minotaurs forsook the worship of the evil Sargas. Knossian minotaurs have instead turned their keen eyes to nature, especially since the Cataclysm that made the world into a series of islands floating in midair, and discovering the mysteries buried in the new soil beneath their hooves
As time went on and the minotaurs of Knossos lived at peace, they began to transcend much of their animalistic nature. By pursuing knowledge of the workings of the universe and accumulating unsurpassed understanding of their natural world the Knossian minotaurs became tame. Ruled skillfully by the Damianos (literally “to tame”) clan, every minotaur was free to come or go, stake out their own piece of land and learn Knossos’ secrets. Until a century ago, the Knossians survived as wild hunters, several of whom had even tapped into the secrets of the primal magic.
